Sara
Ogilvie was born in Edinburgh,Scotland in 1971 and lives in
Newcastle upon Tyne in the North of England.
Since graduating in 1993 with an illustration/printmaking BA
Hons and a PG diploma in 1994 from Edinburgh College of Art,
she has continued to create and develop work which has been
exhibited across the UK and abroad, including USA, Canada, Poland,
Japan, Korea, France.
She also works as a freelance illustrator creating images for
design, publishing and advertising.
She has won numerous awards for her work including a Commonwealth
heads of Government commission to create a co-published lithograph
with Edinburgh Printmakers, presented to Nelson Mandela, HRH
the Queen and heads of State. In 2001 she was an invited visiting
artist/lecturer at Minneapolis School of Art and Design, USA
where she lived for a year and more recently at Malaspina Printmakers
in Vancouver, Canada.
Work
is inspired by words, street life, antiquities, posters, old
wives tales, household appliances, carpets, masks, trying to
spell sounds, packaging, old second-hand bookshops and pedestrian
oddballs....
